The slide in question features a wheelie bin and a damaged DPF. Darren draws the comparison between a full wheelie bin and a clogged DPF. Mike Schlup, Managing Director of Kalimex takes up the story.
“It’s Fay, the wife of Colin who works at Kalimex, that we have to thank for this natty promotional item that we are now using at events. She attended one of Darren’s talks, saw the wheelie bin slide and immediately set about sourcing an identical one which she filled with sweets and added the DPF image Darren uses. She then sent it to him for his feedback. And here we are today with a few hundred of these desktop size wheelie bins, filled with sweets to hand out to motor factor stockists and mechanics at trade events where we have a presence.”
Commenting on the initiative Darren said: “This slide is the one that arouses the most curiosity when I deliver a keynote talk at an event. When I explain the clear similarities between the two, the penny drops. I hadn’t given a second thought to the little bin being brought to life, but I have to say it’s a brilliant idea of Fay’s and I am the proud owner of the first prototype!”
