As a manufacturer of many of the ADAS systems making sure that these critical systems can be safely calibrated in service has long been a priority for Bosch. The initiative of the UK insurance industry to develop a set of requirements was welcomed and fully supported by Bosch.
As a result of Bosch’s involvement with the IIR, they introduced an enhanced version of their popular DAS3000 system at the end of 2020, building on the market leading speed and accuracy of the original system to provide increased efficiency and compliance for all-makes repairers, bodyshops and windscreen specialists.
The enhancements to the DAS3000 (which can be retrofitted to earlier devices) make the task of proving compliance with the requirements simple. The unique positioning software means that a report can be produced recording the actual position of the tool in relation to the car, combining this with the report from the ESI [tronic] diagnostic software gives an end to end record of the calibration job.
Competence is equally important for compliance with the IIR, so Bosch have also been busy revising their training offer recently. The 2-day IMI accredited ADAS Calibration course is now available as an online ‘blended learning’ option (course code VSB41-VC). The new format is designed to enable the technician to gain precisely the same skills, qualification and compliance as the face-to-face option but with a significantly reduced impact on the business.
