This week the IVS 360 team helped a customer with a Porsche Boxster 997 (2005) with inoperable heated seats due to low voltage in the battery.
Affected vehicles/models:
Porsche:
• 911 (2005 – 2012) | 997 and 987
• Boxster (2005 – 2012) | 997 and 987
• Cayman (2005 – 2012) | 997 and 987
Symptoms:
Both heated seats inoperable.
Possible Causes:
Vehicle battery voltage falls too low, (from lack of use)
Repair Steps:
1. This symptom usually occurs after the vehicle battery has been allowed to go flat.
2. The heated seats are controlled by the Vehicle Electrical System control unit.
3. The workshop may have checked the switch operation in the A/C control unit (input signal) – these signals are passed over CAN to the Vehicle Electrical System control unit
4. The Vehicle Electrical System control unit has dropped into sleep mode (aka Transport mode).
5. To reinstate the Vehicle Electrical System control unit, go to:
Main menu > select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS button > VEHICLE HANDOVER button > follow the onscreen prompts
6. When complete, remove the vehicle key, wait 30 seconds, reinsert key start the car and check operation of the heated seats.
Tools Required: Opus IVS diagnostic device, OE Tool or Porsche Pass Thru.
