Coventry, 23 May 2022: Leading remanufacturer and motorsport specialist, Carwood, is partnering with LDR Performance Tuning in this season’s Quaife MINI CHALLENGE Trophy. Under the agreement, Carwood’s high-performance parts, including starters, alternators, fuel pumps and turbochargers, will be installed on both the LDR Performance MINI Cooper race fleet, and other road cars, via LDR’s tuning business. The Carwood branding will also feature heavily on Irish racers, Brendan and Mick Fitzgerald’s MINIs, as well as the rest of the team’s Trophy line-up, giving the company another high-profile platform to promote its brand.
“We’ve been supplying factory-owned and independent race teams for overs 40 years, so we’re thrilled to be getting behind the wheel, figuratively speaking, with another class outfit, in LDR Performance and the Fitzgerald brothers,” comments Simon Quantrell, Deputy Managing Director, Carwood. “The opening rounds at Pembrey, earlier this month, proved what an exciting and competitive grid the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy has in place, and we can’t wait to be part of the action for the rest of the year.”
“We’re equally excited to be joining forces with Carwood,” adds Lawrence Davey, Team Owner, LDR Performance Tuning. “We worked with Carwood at the back end of last season, and it quickly became apparent that they share the same winning mentality as us, and our drivers. With their products – some of the best in the industry – and support for our drivers, we’re looking forward to shifting up a gear and getting the max out of the cars in every race.”
Under its performance brand, Carwood Brise, formerly Brise Motorsport, the company designs and hand-builds some of the most powerful, smallest and lightest starting and charging solutions for classic, competition and specialist road cars. More recently it has added uprated, high-pressure fuel pumps and turbochargers to its range. These parts will be fitted over the course of the 2022 championship to the team’s MINI Coopers, ensuring it is able to compete at the top of its game. Similarly, LDR will install and distribute Carwood parts via its car tuning, tyre and performance upgrade shop based in East Sussex.
The MINI CHALLENGE Trophy features an expanded calendar with 20 races, held over 7 meetings, including three hosted by the British Touring Car Championship, one by Britcar, and new for 2022, three as part of the British Truck Racing Championship. In addition to large crowds trackside, coverage will be broadcast live through social media and on ITV4.
